Series

ECE Level I: Trauma-Awareness

LGI’s Trauma Awareness is a three-part series that empowers early learning professionals with valuable insights and healing-centered approaches. It is designed to inspire new ways of understanding and responding to children’s behavior and needs. The impact of the pandemic and the growing mental health crisis have prioritized the need to meet new professional standards on self-care and wellness, as well as reflective practice.

Participants will gain foundational knowledge of trauma-informed care, including key concepts and evidence-based practices. This series includes practical strategies and skills to help children and adults effectively manage stress and build resilience.

The Trauma-Awareness series is nine total hours of training. It is comprised of three interactive workshops (two hours each), followed by dedicated debrief sessions (one hour each) designed to foster reflective practice in small break-out groups. Debrief sessions are a time for participants to clarify, process, integrate, and apply new knowledge alongside other ECE professionals.

Training can be delivered in person, through interactive live sessions on a web-based platform, or in a hybrid format that combines both.

All sessions are co-facilitated by trainers who prioritize creating an environment of safety, trust, and confidentiality.

LGI Trauma Awareness Certification Requirements:

Attendance at all three workshops and all three debrief sessions (nine total hours). Upon completion of the Trauma Awareness series, participants notify LGI that they have either updated or created their self-care plan.

CEUs:

PQAS Credit: Workshop hours are awarded for completion of each trauma workshop and debrief session (3 hours each).

LGI’s Trauma-Responsive Certification is a five-part series designed to include content specific to increased understanding and practice of co-regulation, constructive discipline, strengthening sensory development, child-centered play therapy techniques and creating safe and supportive environments. While childcare teachers aren’t licensed therapists, they can certainly incorporate therapeutic skills and techniques into their interactions with children! Through reflective practice opportunities throughout the series, educators get to process new knowledge and gain insights into their own responses and develop a deeper understanding of each child’s unique needs.
